Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I use fresh or frozen cranberries for cranberry-orange muffins?

Yes. You can use either fresh or frozen cranberries. If using frozen cranberries, add them directly to the batter without thawing them first.

Can I use dried cranberries instead of fresh cranberries?

Yes. Dried cranberries can be used, but they are sweeter and will give the muffins a different texture than fresh cranberries.

How do I get the most orange flavor in these muffins?

Use both fresh orange juice and orange zest. The zest provides concentrated citrus flavor and aroma, while the juice adds bright orange flavor to the muffins.

Can I use bottled orange juice?

Fresh orange juice is best for these muffins, but bottled orange juice can be used if necessary. For the best flavor, still use fresh orange zest.

Can I make these cranberry-orange muffins with another type of citrus?

Yes. You can experiment with other citrus fruits, such as tangerines or mandarins. The flavor and sweetness may vary depending on the fruit you use.

How should I store cranberry-orange muffins?

Store cooled muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for several days. You can also freeze them for longer storage and thaw them at room temperature when you're ready to serve.
